Through collaboration, SMALLrevolution, space designer Laika, and Novo Nordisk co-created a spacious, versatile planter box tailored for Novo Nordisk’s office spaces. Designed with flexibility in mind, this planter box fits seamlessly into office environments but can also be placed outdoors in parks or playgrounds, adding a green element wherever it is used. 

THE CHALLENGE

Novo Nordisk wanted to enhance its office spaces with a functional solution that promotes well-being and highlights the company’s sustainability goals. The challenge was to design a planter box that could fit seamlessly into different environments—both indoors and outdoors, while being made entirely from recycled materials.

The question: Could we design a planter box that served as both an aesthetic and functional element in office spaces, while also being adaptable for public settings like parks and playgrounds, all while staying true to the values of circularity?

THE SOLUTION

SMALLrevolution worked alongside Laika to create a spacious planter box designed to meet both aesthetic and practical needs. The planter box is produced from recycled materials, aligned with Novo Nordisk’s sustainability goals. Its versatile design allows it to function in a wide range of environments—from office interiors to outdoor parks—making it a truly adaptable piece.

THE OUTCOME

The collaboration between SMALLrevolution, Laika, and Novo Nordisk resulted in a product that combines form, function, and circular material use. The planter box is now in place across various Novo Nordisk locations, serving as a living element within office spaces and as a design feature in public areas.

This project highlights how thoughtful design and recycled materials can create products that enhance both private and public spaces while advancing circular economy principles.
